KATHMANDU, NOV 19 - PJ Club, the umbrella organisation of creative Photo Journalists, has demanded that the photographers from private media should also be allowed to take pictures of the main event during the upcoming Saarc Summit in Kathmandu. The government has barred the private media from taking pictures during the opening and the closing ceremony of the Saarc Summit to be held at the City Hall on November 26 and 27. Only governmental media houses have been allowed to collect news and take pictures of the regional summit. The members of the PJ Club drew the attention of Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey and Information Minister Minendra Rijal regarding the matter on Wednesday. The club has warned of resorting to protests if they are denied access to City Hall, the major venue of Saarc Summit. It further warned of boycotting other events of the summit if their demand was not fulfilled. Stopping the private media from covering the news of such a huge event does not quite suit a democratic nation like Nepal and is against press freedom, read a press statement issued by the club today.according to ekantipure
