PM Koirala urges industrialists to invest inside country

KATHMANDU, NOV 28 - Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has urged the industrialists to invest in different sectors in the country. In a meeting with the office bearers of the Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry at his official residence at Baluwatar Friday morning, PM Koirala urged them to invest in the country as an investment-friendly environment has been created. Indicating the recently held Power Trade Agreement (PTA) and Project Development Agreement (PDA) of the Upper Karnali and the Arun III projects, PM Koirala said, "We have made a beginning." PM Koirala further said, "We fought for establishing and re-establishing the democracy for more than six decades; therefore, we could not pay attention towards the developmental activities in the past." PM Koirala wished for rapid development of the country with the promulgation of a new constitution on slated time as the investment friendly environment has been created. "Peace and stability has contributed to the investment-friendly environment and security would be ensured to the investors," PM Koirala added. He expressed confidence that the investment would be channelised in water resources, agriculture, tourism and herbs product and the processing sectors in the days ahead. Present in the meeting were Saarc Chamber of Commerce Chairman Suraj Baidya, FNCCI chairman Pradip Jung Pandey, Gyanendra Lal Pradhan of Saarc Chamber of Commerce, youth industrialists Saurav Jyoti, Shankar Pandey, Pravina Pandey and Samir Thapa, and the representatives of Saarc Chamber of Commerce from Bhutan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. On the occasion, industrialists congratulated the PM Koirala on his election as the chairman of the Saarc from this summit and for successfully completing the 18th Saarc Summit. In response, PM Koirala said that the recently held energy agreement among the Saarc nations has created development friendly environment in the region and connectivity among the Saarc nations would begin after signing on two proposed agreements—the Saarc Motor Vehicles Agreement for the Regulation of Passengers and Cargo Vehicular Traffic and the Saarc Regional Agreement on Railways –soon. according to ekantipur
